Welcome to Rag Art - suppliers of all the knowledge and equipment you need to enjoy the craft of rag rug making.
RAG RUG MAKING....basically includes a range of techniques used to make rugs using a hessian base (traditionally an old sack) and various tools which either hook or prod recycled fabrics through the base to create the pile. Making rag rugs was widespread until the 1950s when they were largely replaced by ready cut wool rugs and fitted carpets. Now rag rug making is having a resurgence of popularity both as an art form and a fantastic way to recycle. There are many inspiring books on the subject which are listed on the news blog.
